It is time for those who believe in the rule of law to step up and act.
We are seeing a coup in the U.S. government. We'd easily recognize the attack if a tank rolled into the U.S. Treasury and controlled the building. When an unelected billionaire pushes dedicated civil servants aside and takes control of the government's financial levers, that is equally a coup. An oligarch now has access to your personal data: your social security number, tax returns, student loans, contractor payments, Medicare and Medicaid, grants, and loans, including data about competitors to his businesses. Musk is boasting about shutting down “illegal payments”; the U.S. Treasury makes payments at the direction of Congress, not because a buddy of the president approves. At the same time, Musk is threatening government employees who work for YOU. Every branch of government is being attacked, including the FBI and CIA, EPA, NOAA, and USAID, which delivers critical aid to starving children in war zones, and the CDC and NIH, responsible for health research and monitoring. |
