1. Highlighting key meetings this week CALENDAR
We are trying to get someone to speak up at every possible local meeting. Stand up, say your piece How are government actions affecting you? How do they hurt your community? You don't have to say a lot; some people just say a sentence or two "I'm worried about Medicaid cuts"; "I don't want Elon Musk having access to my private data."
Two important meetings today: (1) the Keweenaw National Park Commission only meets quarterly. Show up to support our national parks and ask about impacts. (2) HoCo Commission will consider a millage to support Meals on Wheels.
  • *** April 8, 1:00 pm Keweenaw National Historic Park Advisory Commission, Keweenaw NHP Headquarters, Calumet
    • Only meets quarterly
  • *** April 8, 3:00 pm Houghton County Commissioners
    • *** Meals on Wheels, request for a millage. Craig W has collected a lot of info on this; please ask if you'd like me to forward it. DeeDee is supporting this effort: "Meals On Wheels is asking the Houghton County Board of Commissioners to consider adding a 1-mil request on the August ballot. At this time they are serving over 350 Houghton county seniors and have a waiting list! Without the needed funding our seniors in need are going without." They will be impacted by USDA cuts to food programs.
